The WP12 engine, part of Weichai's Blue Power range, stands as the preferred choice for heavy-duty vehicle propulsion thanks to its outstanding performance.
Delivering robust power across a 276-360kW range, it achieves a maximum torque of 2550N.m – 9% higher than competitors – ensuring superior acceleration performance. While maintaining power output, it permits selection of a lower rear axle ratio, enabling maximum speeds exceeding 120km/h. Its outstanding economy is achieved through optimised combustion, improved camshaft profiles, and the adoption of high-efficiency turbochargers. This results in a minimum fuel consumption rate of 183 g/kW·h, with fuel consumption in common operating conditions 3-5% lower than competitors. The low-speed fuel consumption range covers the commonly used operating conditions of 1000-1400 r/min.
WP12 engine reliability is exceptionally high, featuring a frame-type crankcase and dry cylinder liners. The engine exhibits a high degree of reinforcement, having undergone over 45,000 hours of bench testing and exceeding 50 million kilometres of vehicle road testing, with a service life surpassing 1.8 million kilometres or 30,000 hours. Moreover, it delivers outstanding NVH performance. The engine block incorporates a drum-shaped skirt design with a rear-mounted gear chamber, utilising high-precision gears and shear gears. Combined with multiple injection technology, idle noise is merely 81 dB(A) – 2-3 dB(A) lower than competitors. Moreover, this engine demonstrates strong environmental adaptability, maintaining full power output at 3,500 metres altitude and experiencing less than 5% power loss at rated speed at 4,100 metres altitude.
